The school could not close, so the extension was cut in a factory and stood up in eleven days in July. Cross-laminated timber made that possible and it is left exposed inside, which meant getting the services coordinated before a single panel was cut. The new wing is linked to the old school by a glazed corridor at first-floor level, so the yard below stayed whole. The library sits at the end where the two buildings meet, because it is the one room both halves of the school use.
